I am glad that my father made a right decision by moving us to New York from Detroit Dead City.

No matter what the mother was telling us about the scent of Californian oranges.

I was young when my family had to leave that rotten urban prairie, but I can tell you what the permanent aftershock will look like:

1) Middle class migration;

2) Collapse of the school system;

3) Neglect of the city infrastructure;

4) Political apathy;

5) Media cover-up.

I don't know if LA will survive the Big One, but – good luck.
